John’s first Division I head coaching position came after 15 years of experience as an assistant at the highest level of intercollegiate basketball, including six seasons in the Pacific-10 Conference. He has been on the staffs at the University of Arizona, the University of Oregon, the University of San Francisco, and Butler University.
HoopScoop ranked him first in its top-25 assistant coaches poll.

Coach Spoelstra, Oregon State Women's basketball All-American and member of the Beavers Athleatic Hall of Fame, became women's head coach @Oregon State on June 1, 1995
As a player during her 2 years at Oregon State, Spoelstra scored 801 points plus she had 458 rebounds and 244 assists.
Spoelstra was named the Beaver's most valuable player both years. Was named a Kodak All-American in 1983. Her junior year the Beavers won the NWIT and her senior season Oregon State went to the sweet 16.
Spoelstra was also named Converse All-American first team, plus Fast Break All-American first team.
During her senior year at OSU, Spoelstra established a season record for assists.

Willamette's Jeff Bair has been hired as the boys basketball coach at Lincoln, a rising power in the Portland Interscholastic League.
Bair took over the Cardinals a year after they won the PIL title for the first time in 40 years. Bair led Willamette to an overall record of 60-51 in five seasons with Willamette, including a 40-40 mark in Mid-western League games. Willamette tied for second in the league in 2001 and placed third in 2002, reaching the state sub-tournament each year. The 34-year old gradtuated from Clackamas High School.

Coach Stepp achieved many records during his 32 years of coaching, which 23 of those years were at South Eugene.
  1. South Eugene went to the state tournament 19 times.
  2. South Eugene holds the team free throw shooting percentage record for the state of Oregon.
  3. South Eugene also holds the individual free throw scoring record.
  4. South Eugene holds the highest field goal shooting record for the state of Oregon.
  5. South Eugene holds the 3 point percentage record at the state tournament.

Jamieson coached the South Medford High School freshman boys team for four years while attending SOU and led the Panthers to a 63-22 record. He also developed a basketball fundamentals camp for fourth- through 12th-graders that takes place annually in his hometown of Medford. He Graduated in 2003 from the University's prestigious Lundquist College of Business with a Master's in sports marketing.

Entering his second season with the men's team, Fred Litzenberger is the most experianced member of the staff.
A Litzenberger-coached team has won three Pac-10 titles in the last four years and advanced to the NCAA Tournament each of the last seven seasons. Last year with the Duck men's team and six straight years prior to that with the women. He now counts 17 NCAA tournaments during his 35-year coaching career.
his teams have led the nation in scoring defense four times and have been in the top 10 in numerous defensive categories throughout his career. Litzenberger, 56, has produced books and videos on defensive fundamentals that are sold throughout the world.

Arguably the finest female basketball player Canada has ever produced, Bev Smith is now making the same sort of impact as a coach.
Smith graduated from Salmon Arm secondary school in 1978 after leading the Jewels to three provincial high school championships and an 89-game winning streak.
Following high school, Smith established herself as a U.S. college star. During her four years at the University of Oregon, she led the Ducks to a 93-19 record. Smith remains the school's top rebounder and, with 2,063 career points, its second highest scorer of all-time, and she still holds eight Ducks records.
A six-foot-one forward who was once described as the "Larry Bird" of the Canadian women's team, Smith has represented Canada at numerous world championship tournaments, Pan American Games and World University Games.
After playing professionally in Italy for 12 years, Smith made the transition from player to coach. She was briefly a coach at the University of British Columbia, served as the Canadian national team women's coach from 1997 to 2001.
In 2004 Bev Smith was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall Of Fame in Knoxville, TN.
We are honored to have Bev Smith as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks Women's Basketball team.
In her first season as a U.S. college coach, she led Oregon to the WNIT championship.

Coach Dave Lipp

Coach Lipp has held the head coaching job for 18 years. A 1971 graduate of NCC, Coach Lipp is also the College's athleatic director. Coach Lipp has received NSCAA "Coach of the Year honors" twice and coached on a tour of Japan in 1999. Coach Lipp has accumulated over 300 wins in his head coaching career.

Coach Jim Boutin

One of only three college basketball coaches in Oregon to reach 600 victories, after a stellar 35-year career, coach Boutin's overal record is 637-355. In his 12 seasons at Lane, Coach Boutin is 240-102 overall and 120-48 in the Southern Region for an average of 20 wins per season. Coach Boutin has been Southern Region coach of the year four times, led Lane to five division titles (three were co-championships), three second-place finishes and six trips to the postseason. He helped the Titans win more division games during his tenure than any other team. In 1998, coach Boutin was drafted in the NBA by the New York Knicks and was placed in the State of Oregon Hall of Fame in 1998.
